Shooting Investigation

The Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS) Major Crimes Unit has charged three individuals following an extensive investigation into a shooting that left a Medicine Hat man with serious injuries. On July 12, 2026, MHPS received a report from Medicine Hat Regional Hospital that a male had arrived with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. Officers attended the hospital and immediately launched an investigation. Investigators determined the victim had been shot at a residence in the 600 block of 6 Street SW. The victim sustained injuries and underwent treatment to the hospital. Over the course of the investigation, members of the Major Crimes Unit executed search warrants, conducted witness interviews, reviewed extensive CCTV footage, and gathered forensic evidence. Investigators ultimately determined the incident was a targeted attack involving multiple suspects. As a result of the investigation, the following individuals have been charged:

Benjamin Adam, 45, of Medicine Hat has been charged with:

  • Break and Enter
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace
  • Discharging a Firearm with Intent

Adam is currently in provincial custody, having been sentenced on an unrelated matter following these events. He will be brought before the court pursuant to a judge's order to answer the new charges.

Bodana Dye, 45, of Medicine Hat has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault

Dye was released from custody by a justice of the peace following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in court on August 5, 2026.

Jade Holt, 26, of Medicine Hat has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault

Holt was released from custody by a justice of the peace following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in court on July 29, 2026.
