On June 25, 2026, at approximately 11:44 p.m., members of the Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS) responded to a weapons complaint in the 100 block of 8 Street SW.

Upon arrival, officers located a taxi driver and several other individuals who had been exposed to bear spray. The suspect had fled the area prior to police arrival. Several youths and one adult were treated for the effects of the bear spray.

The initial investigation determined the incident was a targeted attack. Officers quickly identified and located a suspect, who was subsequently arrested without incident.

Connor Dominaux-Monnie, 19-year-old Medicine Hat man, has been charged with the following offences:

• Assault with a Weapon (6 counts)
• Mischief Under $5,000
• Failure to Comply with a Release Order (2 counts)

The accused was held for a judicial interim release hearing and has been remanded into custody pending a court appearance on June 30, 2026.
