On June 17, 2026, at approximately 2:34 p.m., members of the Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS), along with emergency medical services and fire personnel, responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Crestwood Drive SE and Carry Drive SE.

The initial investigation indicates that a motorcyclist was travelling up Scholten Hill at a high rate of speed when the rider lost control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle crossed the centre line and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle at the crest of the hill.

The motorcyclist was transported to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was not physically injured during the collision.

Based on the preliminary investigation, speed is believed to have been a contributing factor. The investigation remains ongoing.

MHPS reminds all drivers and riders to adjust their speed for road conditions, remain aware of surrounding traffic, and use extra caution when approaching hills, curves, and intersections.
